Abu Dhabi has carried out a large-scale inspection drive covering more than 480 schools and nurseries to strengthen emergency preparedness and safety standards across the education sector.
The initiative was conducted through joint efforts between the Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority. It focused on assessing preparedness levels and improving safety measures in institutions affiliated with ADEK.
As part of the inspections, authorities reviewed evacuation plans, checked early warning systems, and evaluated the readiness of response teams in schools and nurseries. Field exercises were also carried out to ensure compliance with safety standards and to measure staff awareness and response capabilities during emergencies.
Officials said the inspections are part of an ongoing, proactive monitoring system designed to enhance operational readiness across key sectors. The aim is to ensure that educational institutions are fully prepared to handle various emergency situations while maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for students.
His Excellency Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri, Undersecretary of ADEK, stated that student and staff safety remains a top priority. He highlighted that regular inspections, clear safety protocols, and strong coordination with relevant authorities help ensure schools are always prepared, giving confidence to parents about safety standards.
Brigadier Salem Abdullah Bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director General of ADCDA, said the field visits are part of an integrated system that moves preparedness from planning to real-world application. He explained that realistic testing helps identify gaps and improve response efficiency within educational institutions.
He added that continuous monitoring and practical assessments play a key role in strengthening safety measures and ensuring the highest level of protection for students and staff.
Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADCMC, emphasised that the education sector is a key part of Abu Dhabi’s overall preparedness system. He noted that regular inspections and coordination among authorities help improve readiness to handle different emergency scenarios.
Authorities said the initiative reflects a unified approach that promotes prevention, strengthens coordination, and ensures measurable preparedness across the education sector. It also supports the continuity of education while enhancing overall public safety in Abu Dhabi.
