Enhancing Learning: Abu Dhabi's Museums Embrace Interaction

Post by : Bianca Haleem

In Abu Dhabi, museums are evolving as essential cultural and educational hubs by merging art with contemporary teaching practices. Through interactive sessions and technological resources, these venues are making learning more engaging and accessible for students.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi has played a pivotal role in this initiative, attracting over 67,000 students in 2025. It has arranged specialized projects for schools, universities, and individuals with disabilities, fostering a meaningful connection to art.

Looking to 2026, the museum will launch the Museum Curriculum Portal, an initiative developed with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and sanctioned by the Ministry of Education. This platform will connect 148 artworks and artifacts to the national curriculum, covering various subjects like science and mathematics, thereby integrating museum experiences into educational settings.

In parallel, the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi is enhancing scientific knowledge through its Research and Education Institute. Utilizing discovery-based methods and virtual reality, it engages students on topics related to biodiversity, sustainability, and Earth sciences.

The Zayed National Museum complements these efforts with immersive experiences such as 'Baba Zayed' and 'Unlocking History,' emphasizing UAE values, heritage, and national identity. Through storytelling, craft workshops, and digital learning materials, the museum fosters cultural preservation and lifelong education.

Collectively, Abu Dhabi's museums are forging a powerful link between education and culture, providing students with innovative avenues for learning beyond traditional classrooms.
