New Initiative Launched in Abu Dhabi to Boost Family Entrepreneurs

Post by : Bianca Haleem

In a collaborative effort, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has unveiled the “Entrepreneurial Families Initiative” in Al Ain, designed to empower families interested in launching and expanding their businesses.

This initiative aspires to enhance the involvement of entrepreneurial families within Abu Dhabi’s economic landscape, aligning with the emirate’s vision of fostering a diverse and innovation-driven economy.

A series of informative workshops will be conducted at various venues around Al Ain, which will offer valuable insights on establishing businesses, securing licenses, and navigating government support services accessible within Abu Dhabi’s business framework.

Engagement with local communities will be facilitated through platforms in partnership with Majalis Abu Dhabi, ensuring tailored communication with target demographics.

This programme is part of ADDED’s broader suite of initiatives aimed at empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), enhancing private sector involvement, and stimulating sustainable economic progress by making market entry more accessible while boosting awareness regarding business regulations.

Participants will also gain insights into the regulatory landscape and services offered by the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority, which operates under ADDED to oversee and advance the emirate's business environment.

Workshops will cover essential topics such as business registration processes, licensing requirements, and available support avenues for budding entrepreneurs.

In addition to the workshops, specialized training will occur throughout the year in Al Ain, focusing on subjects like e-commerce, financial management, and opportunities within the digital economy and priority sectors.

His Excellency Hamad Sayah Al Mazrouei, ADDED’s Undersecretary, remarked that this initiative represents Abu Dhabi’s dedication to fostering economic development participation, reinforcing the emirate’s stature as a competitive, future-focused economy.

He noted that the Al Ain Region is vital to Abu Dhabi’s economic aspirations, highlighted by a 29 percent rise in new economic licenses issued in the region during 2025.

His Excellency Mohammed Alshaiba Al Sharyani, Acting Director General of Economic Affairs at ADDED, expressed that the initiative was implemented in collaboration with various partners, including the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development and Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, to equip communities with essential skills and business insights.

The initiative aims to ensure participants leverage Abu Dhabi’s business-friendly environment while fostering inclusive economic development, job creation, and productivity advancement throughout the emirate.
