Dashoguz Silk Farmers Set Ambitious 500 Ton Yield Goal

Post by : Shakul

In the northern region of Turkmenistan, silk producers in Dashoguz velayat have kicked off a vital seasonal initiative focused on silkworm cocoon production. This endeavor significantly contributes to the textile industry and the rural economy of the country. The campaign is currently underway with extensive participation from local farmers.

Approximately 7,000 tenant farmers, alongside 186 peasant farms and multiple farmers' associations, are actively engaged in this year's farming efforts. This widespread involvement emphasizes the agricultural significance of silk farming and the strong resolve among local producers to reach their output goals.

Farmers in Dashoguz have honed their skills in successful silkworm cultivation over the years. They recognize that the quality of silk production hinges on meticulous management throughout the entire process, from feeding the silkworm larvae to optimal environmental control during their growth phases.

Particular attention is paid to achieving the correct temperature and humidity levels in rearing facilities, which are essential for the thriving development of silkworms. Farmers adhere to strict timetables to ensure that feeding and care are timely delivered.

The quality of mulberry leaves, the primary diet for silkworms, is carefully scrutinized. Nutritious and fresh leaves promote superior cocoon quality and boost overall production levels. Additionally, preventive strategies are applied to safeguard the silkworms from ailments during the rearing process.

With strong backing from the government and well-established infrastructure, farmers in the region are optimistic about meeting their ambitious production goals. For this year, they aim to harvest 500 tons of raw silk to support the domestic textile markets.

The area has created a solid foundation for silk production, supported by extensive mulberry cultivation. Expansive lands filled with mulberry trees ensure a consistent food supply for silkworms throughout the season.

Every year, new saplings are introduced along the fields and close to water bodies to broaden these plantations. This ongoing initiative fuels the sustained growth of the sericulture industry in Dashoguz.

Ultimately, the silk production campaign in Dashoguz velayat symbolizes the region’s commitment to agricultural advancement and its contribution to the nation's economy. With effective planning and favorable conditions, the area is poised to successfully accomplish this year's production target.
