The final round of the second Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship (Gi category) will kick off tomorrow at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City. Top athletes from clubs and academies across the UAE are set to compete in this prestigious event.
A Season of Strong Competition
This final round concludes a season marked by strong competition and excellent organization, reinforcing the championship’s status as one of the premier jiu-jitsu events in the country. It has successfully highlighted the growth of the sport and the talent of UAE athletes.
Three Days of Action
Over three days, around 2,500 male and female athletes will compete in various divisions. The opening day will feature matches in the under-18, adult, and master divisions. The second day will showcase the under-14 and under-16 categories, while the championship will conclude on Sunday with the Under-12 and Kids divisions.
Top Clubs to Be Recognized
In addition to individual competitions, the event will also recognize the top three clubs that have earned the highest points throughout the previous rounds, celebrating both talent and consistent performance over the season.
Technical Excellence in Gi Competitions
Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali, Director of the Technical Department at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said the final round reflects remarkable progress in athletes’ performance and growing participation in jiu-jitsu across the country. He emphasized that Gi competitions are technically rich and tactically deep, allowing athletes to develop precision, defensive discipline, and control techniques.
Preparing Athletes for Future Challenges
Al Menhali highlighted that these competitions play a key role in preparing athletes for upcoming national and international challenges. By competing in both Gi and No-Gi formats, athletes enhance their skill sets, gain experience, and balance their abilities across disciplines.
The total prize pool for the championship stands at AED 3 million, increased under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. This reflects the continued support for jiu-jitsu and the motivation provided to athletes to achieve excellence.
The final round promises intense competition, inspiring young athletes, and celebrating the UAE’s growing jiu-jitsu talent. The championship remains a key platform for developing technical skill, sportsmanship, and national pride across all age groups.
