Qatar Qualifies for Fujairah Tennis Tournament Final

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Qatari men’s national tennis team has proudly qualified for the final of the Fujairah International Teams Tennis Tournament, held in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. The event brings together top tennis teams from eight nations—Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, and Syria—making it one of the most competitive regional tournaments this year.

The Qatari team, represented by Musa Shanan, Mubarak Shanan, and Ghanem Al Sulaiti, is under the leadership of coach Munir Al Araj. Their performance throughout the tournament has reflected dedication, teamwork, and a strong desire to achieve international success for Qatar.

Qatar began its journey with an impressive showing in the group stage, earning crucial victories against two strong teams. The players displayed remarkable consistency and control on the court, defeating Bahrain 2–1 in a closely contested match. They followed this up with another 2–1 win over the UAE, proving their strength against regional rivals.

Despite a 0–3 loss to Jordan in their final group-stage match, Qatar’s earlier victories secured them second place in their group. This position was enough to qualify them for the semifinal round, giving the players another chance to show their determination and skills.

In the semifinals, Qatar faced Iran, a team known for its tough players and strong defense. The match was filled with energy and intensity, as both teams battled for a place in the final. Qatar’s players showed great focus and fighting spirit, ultimately defeating Iran 2–1 to book their spot in the final match against Jordan.

This victory marked a major achievement for the team, as it came after a series of physically demanding matches. Their determination and tactical awareness stood out as key reasons for their success.

Chairman of the National Teams Committee at the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel, and Badminton Federation, Khalid Al Khulaifi, expressed deep pride in the national team’s performance. He highlighted the players’ outstanding level of play, discipline, and fighting spirit throughout the tournament.

Al Khulaifi emphasized that the results reflected the growth of tennis in Qatar, a sport that continues to gain recognition thanks to the efforts of local athletes and coaches. He commended the team for their hard work and urged them to continue performing with the same passion and confidence in the final.

Looking ahead to the final against Jordan, Al Khulaifi shared his confidence that the Qatari players would give their best effort to bring home the championship title. He encouraged the athletes to stay focused and remember that their participation already demonstrates Qatar’s growing presence in the sport of tennis.

The upcoming final is expected to be a thrilling contest between two well-matched teams. For Qatar, the match is not only an opportunity to win the tournament but also a chance to showcase national pride and highlight the country’s progress in sports development.

The Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel, and Badminton Federation continues to invest in the development of national players, offering world-class training and international exposure. The strong performance of the men’s team in Fujairah reflects these efforts and the federation’s vision to build a new generation of competitive athletes.

Regardless of the final result, Qatar’s participation has already been a success story—demonstrating teamwork, discipline, and the spirit of sportsmanship. As the players prepare for the final showdown, they carry with them the hopes and pride of their nation.
