UAE Nursing Conference Emphasizes Technology and Compassion in Care

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Abu Dhabi, UAE – The 2nd Annual Nursing Conference was officially launched under the distinguished patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi on 12 November 2025.

Under the theme “The SMART Nurse: Integrating Technology with Clinical Expertise to Shape the Future of Patient Care,” the event examined how digital advancements and artificial intelligence can change the landscape of nursing, emphasizing patient-centered care with a personal touch.

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan articulated the conference’s objective: to empower nurses, midwives, and healthcare professionals to merge their skills with compassion. He underscored the UAE’s role in nurturing a healthcare environment that harmonizes technical innovation with ethical and humanitarian principles. According to him, “Nurses serve as the link between knowledge and care, comforting patients while inspiring hope.”

More than 500 attendees from various locations both within the UAE and internationally participated in discussions about leadership in the era of AI, including clinical simulation training and case-based discussions illustrating the tangible advantages of digital technologies for patient outcomes.

The conference's second day featured a demonstration from Abu Dhabi Academy, revealing an AI-driven solution developed during the Healthcare Innovation Hackathon. This application tackles authentic clinical challenges and is set to undergo a six-month pilot test at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Elizabeth Guffeyro, Chief Nursing Officer at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, addressed the essential connection between technology and compassion: “Technology unlocks incredible opportunities, but its true potential shines when steered by nurses who understand the patient behind every data point.”

This event highlighted Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s dedication to enhancing nursing as a blend of science and art, encouraging innovation while prioritizing compassionate patient care. It further solidified the UAE's position as a benchmark for healthcare excellence, where technology serves to complement, not substitute, the essential human touch.
