Dien Bien Sees Significant Investment Advancements

Post by : Shakul

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang attended the 2026 Investment Promotion Conference in Dien Bien Province, where several key investment projects were approved. This initiative is designed to position Dien Bien as a vital hub for tourism, robust infrastructure, and sustainable economic growth. The event welcomed over 1,200 attendees, including diplomats, government officials, and business leaders from nations like Thailand, France, China, Japan, South Korea, and Laos.

At the conference, the province approved investments totaling more than 48 trillion Vietnamese dong, with agreements signed that pushed promised investments above 209 trillion Vietnamese dong. These initiatives are seen as the foundational “pink bricks” for the province's ambitious economic aspirations.

During his address, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang commended Dien Bien for its proactive measures to enhance the investment climate through administrative reforms and a new “green channel” system. This system is intended to expedite approval processes for key projects by 70 to 90 percent, reflecting a commitment to fostering a transparent, business-friendly environment.

The province’s strengths were noted, particularly its historical significance from the Dien Bien Phu battle, strategic borders with China and Laos, and abundant resources for tourism and renewable energy development. Leaders emphasized the potential of natural hot springs, wind, solar energy, and high-tech agricultural opportunities.

Tourism and urban development were crucial topics, including the announcement of Vingroup’s ambitious 228-hectare project in Dien Bien Phu. This development encompasses residential, commercial, educational, and health facilities as well as an 18-hole golf course—designed to harmonize with the northwest's natural vistas. It is projected to accommodate approximately 12,000 residents and significantly enhance tourism.

The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the need for sustainable economic growth that also respects cultural heritage and environmental preservation. He called on local leaders and investors to transition swiftly from agreements to actionable construction, ensuring developments uplift local living standards.

Vietnam’s central government has pledged ongoing support to Dien Bien's developmental vision, including infrastructure enhancements like expressways and border connectivity. Officials are optimistic about the province's potential to serve as an economic and tourism nexus in northwestern Vietnam while contributing to national goals of green growth and regional integration.
