The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque announced that during the month of Rabi' al-Awwal 1447 AH, a total of 53,572,983 pilgrims and visitors attended the Two Holy Mosques. This reflects a continuing increase in the number of Umrah performers and visitors, highlighting the importance of these sacred sites for worshippers worldwide.

Grand Mosque Visitor Statistics

At the Grand Mosque, 17,560,004 people visited during the month. Among them, 91,753 worshippers performed prayers at Hijr Ismail, also known as Al-Hateem. The number of Umrah performers at the Grand Mosque reached 12,146,516, demonstrating the sustained significance of the mosque as a central location for spiritual pilgrimage.

Prophet’s Mosque Attendance

The Prophet’s Mosque welcomed 20,701,560 visitors in the same period. Of these, 1,002,049 individuals performed prayers in Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah, a highly revered area within the mosque. Additionally, 2,071,101 visitors offered greetings to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his two Companions, reflecting devotion and reverence among pilgrims.

Advanced Technology For Visitor Management

The authority employs advanced technology, including sensor readers, at the main entrances of both mosques. This system allows for accurate monitoring of visitor numbers and crowd flows. It is an essential tool for improving operational efficiency, helping authorities to manage large gatherings and ensure safety and smooth movement for worshippers.

Enhancing Operational Efficiency

By tracking the number of visitors in real-time, the authority can efficiently deploy staff, maintain security, and reduce congestion in key areas. The technology supports coordinated efforts between the mosques’ administration and relevant authorities to provide a safe and organized experience for all pilgrims and visitors.

Supporting Pilgrim Experience

The monitoring system not only ensures safety but also enhances the overall experience of pilgrims. By effectively managing crowd flows and offering timely assistance, the authority helps worshippers focus on spiritual activities such as prayer, Umrah, and visiting sacred sites within both mosques.

Significance Of Rabi’ Al-Awwal

The month of Rabi' al-Awwal holds religious significance for Muslims worldwide, as it is associated with the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Large numbers of pilgrims and visitors choose this period to visit the Two Holy Mosques, participate in prayers, and perform Umrah, increasing the need for advanced management and safety measures.

Commitment To Innovation And Safety

The use of modern technological systems highlights the authority’s commitment to innovation and safety. Sensor-based monitoring allows authorities to respond promptly to changes in crowd density and ensure a safe environment for millions of visitors daily. This approach demonstrates a balance between tradition, devotion, and modern operational practices.

Coordination With Relevant Entities

The authority’s collaboration with other entities ensures seamless operations and management across the Two Holy Mosques. From crowd control to the provision of services for pilgrims, all efforts are aligned to uphold the sanctity of the mosques while facilitating worship in a safe and organized manner.

During Rabi' al-Awwal 1447 AH, the Two Holy Mosques received more than 53 million visitors, with millions performing Umrah, prayers, and offering greetings to the Prophet. The use of advanced technology and efficient management reflects the authority’s dedication to ensuring safety, enhancing the pilgrim experience, and maintaining smooth operations at these central sites of Islamic worship.
