The General Directorate of Passports in Saudi Arabia has announced that it is fully ready to assist travelers heading to Qatar for the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, which will take place from December 1 to 18. Thousands of fans from the Kingdom are expected to travel to watch the matches, and the directorate has strengthened all services to ensure smooth and safe travel for everyone.
To handle the large number of travelers, the Passports Department has increased the number of qualified staff at Salwa Port, the main land border crossing between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Modern technical systems have also been added to speed up passport checks and entry procedures. These upgrades aim to avoid long waiting times and ensure that fans can reach Qatar quickly and safely.
The directorate reminded all citizens to check the validity of their passports before traveling. Travelers are advised to make sure their passports are valid for at least three months for trips to any Arab country, including Qatar, and six months for travel outside the Arab region. Passengers were encouraged to renew passports early if necessary to prevent delays at border points.
For travelers going to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the Passports Department highlighted important rules. Travelers must carry either a valid passport or a valid national ID card. Other documents, such as family registers or digital IDs on platforms like Absher or Tawakkalna, are not accepted for international travel, even within GCC countries, as they are only valid for internal use inside Saudi Arabia.
The directorate also advised travelers to plan their trips early, keep their travel documents safe, arrive at borders on time, and follow all guidelines issued by border authorities. The department will closely monitor all travel procedures during the tournament and provide any additional support required to ensure a smooth experience.
Saudi Arabia aims to give its citizens a safe and comfortable travel experience as they attend the Arab Cup matches. With more staff, upgraded systems, and strict attention to travel requirements, the General Directorate of Passports intends to make the journey to Qatar fast, smooth, and trouble-free. Fans can look forward to enjoying the tournament while the authorities ensure all entry and exit procedures run efficiently.
