Mubadala Champions Power Factors for Renewable Energy Evolution

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Mubadala Investment Company has confirmed a significant minority stake in Power Factors, a prominent provider of renewable energy management software, alongside existing investor Vista Equity Partners.

This investment is designed to bolster Power Factors' international growth and innovation within the burgeoning renewable energy market.

Power Factors is recognized for its Unity platform, which allows renewable energy firms to oversee and optimize their wind, solar, and energy storage assets through one cohesive system, providing services like monitoring, analytics, and asset management.

Currently, Power Factors aids 70 percent of the world's top 50 renewable energy producers, servicing over 600 clients across more than 18,000 locations in 70 nations while managing approximately 310 gigawatts of renewable capacity.

Abdulla Mohamed Shadid, Mubadala's Head of Energy and Sustainability, Private Equity, emphasized that this investment underscores Mubadala's enduring dedication to the renewable energy sector. With the global expansion of renewable portfolios, the need for advanced software and intelligent monitoring is paramount for enhancing performance.

He expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Vista Equity Partners to help Power Factors fortify its role as a leading renewable energy management solution provider.

The funding will also advance Power Factors' AI-driven Renewable Energy Management Intelligence system (REMI), which utilizes artificial intelligence to enable operators to comprehend and oversee operational data across various renewable projects.

Additionally, this investment will drive innovations in energy storage monitoring and control technologies, facilitating the development of battery storage solutions and hybrid renewable systems to support electrical grids.

Julieann Esper Rainville, CEO of Power Factors, noted that as renewable energy portfolios expand and evolve, the demand for sophisticated, integrated management platforms is increasing. This investment is poised to accelerate the company's vision of establishing top-tier AI-driven renewable energy management solutions.

Patrick Severson, Senior Managing Director at Vista Equity Partners, acknowledged Power Factors as a vital platform for renewable energy operators globally. He remarked that Mubadala’s wealth of experience in technology and infrastructure investments will facilitate the company’s next chapter of innovation and expansion.

The renewable energy sector is witnessing rapid growth as countries focus on clean energy and storage systems. As projects become more extensive and interconnected, software management platforms play a crucial role in enhancing performance and reducing operational expenses while supporting modern energy frameworks.
