Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al-Saud, in Riyadh on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and coordination between Qatar and Saudi Arabia and expanding joint efforts across several areas. The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to further develop cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The two foreign ministers also discussed the latest developments across the region, including ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce escalation, contain tensions and promote regional security and stability.
Particular attention was given to developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. Both sides stressed the importance of continued consultation and coordination between Qatar and Saudi Arabia in responding to the region’s rapidly changing situation.
The two countries also emphasized the need to coordinate their positions on current developments to support wider efforts aimed at strengthening regional peace, security and stability.
During the meeting, Qatar and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their support for resolving regional disputes through diplomatic and peaceful means.
The two sides highlighted the importance of combining regional and international diplomatic efforts to ease tensions, encourage dialogue and prevent further escalation. They stressed that coordinated international action remains important for addressing regional crises and supporting long-term stability.
The discussions also covered the security and safety of freedom of navigation, particularly in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea.
Qatar and Saudi Arabia stressed the importance of keeping vital maritime routes secure to ensure the uninterrupted movement of international trade. They also underlined the need to protect key sea corridors as part of broader efforts to maintain regional and international economic stability.
Qatar and Saudi Arabia reiterated their condemnation of Israel’s declared rejection of the roadmap aimed at completing the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza.
The two countries noted that the plan was endorsed through United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803. They also condemned Israel’s rejection of the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The meeting reflected continued coordination between Qatar and Saudi Arabia on major regional issues, particularly efforts to reduce tensions, support diplomatic solutions and strengthen security and stability across the Middle East.
