The SMEs Development Authority, also known as Riyada, has opened a new entrepreneurship centre in the Wilayat of Sohar, located in the North Al Batinah Governorate. The opening ceremony was held under the guidance of Mohammed Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah. Halima Rashid Al Zar’ee, Chairperson of Riyada, also attended the event along with heads of government departments and private sector representatives.
This new centre is a major step in supporting entrepreneurs and creating an environment that encourages innovation. It aims to provide a strong foundation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to grow, expand, and contribute to Oman’s economic development.
The Sohar Riyada Centre will provide entrepreneurs with a wide range of services. These include coworking spaces, private offices, and training opportunities designed to develop skills and knowledge. The centre also offers guidance and mentorship to help new business owners start their ventures successfully.
In addition to physical spaces, the centre will provide opportunities for networking with investors, industry experts, and other entrepreneurs. This network is expected to help SMEs gain access to financing, technical support, and advice on administrative processes.
Riyada’s goal with this new centre is not only to support existing businesses but also to create an ecosystem that fosters innovation. Entrepreneurs will be encouraged to explore new ideas, develop innovative products, and adopt modern business solutions that help their companies stay competitive.
By providing training, mentorship, and networking, the centre helps entrepreneurs build confidence, improve their skills, and successfully grow their businesses. This approach ensures that SMEs are better prepared to face challenges and take advantage of market opportunities.
The opening of the Sohar centre reflects Riyada’s commitment to economic diversification and sustainable development. By supporting SMEs, Riyada contributes to creating new jobs, encouraging private sector growth, and strengthening the national economy.
Currently, Riyada operates 29 centres across Oman, serving 111 SMEs and providing employment for 259 Omanis. Each centre aims to create a favourable business climate, generate employment opportunities, and support innovation in the local market.
The centre in Sohar is specially designed to empower small and medium-sized enterprises. Entrepreneurs will have access to administrative support, technical advice, and financial assistance. These services make it easier for businesses to expand, improve their operations, and compete in local and regional markets.
The availability of coworking spaces and private offices allows startups to operate efficiently without heavy costs, while training programs ensure that entrepreneurs are prepared to handle challenges and grow their ventures sustainably.
One of the key benefits of the new centre is the networking opportunities it offers. Entrepreneurs can meet potential investors, share ideas, and form partnerships that help them scale their businesses.
In addition to networking, the centre provides expert guidance on financial planning, market strategies, and technical processes. These services are designed to help SMEs become self-sufficient and successful, contributing to Oman’s overall economic development.
The Sohar Riyada Centre aligns with Oman’s Economic Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and strengthen the private sector. By supporting entrepreneurship and SMEs, Riyada plays a vital role in building a knowledge-based economy and encouraging sustainable growth.
The centre also helps young entrepreneurs and women participate in the business sector, empowering them to take leadership roles and contribute to society. By fostering innovation, training, and mentorship, the centre ensures that Oman continues to develop a strong and dynamic business ecosystem.
The creation of the Sohar centre is part of a long-term strategy to support business development and innovation. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to think creatively, adopt modern technologies, and develop solutions that meet market needs.
Riyada aims to ensure that SMEs are well-prepared to compete locally and internationally. By providing resources, guidance, and access to networks, the centre helps entrepreneurs build strong, resilient businesses that can contribute to economic growth over time.
The centre is more than just an office space; it is a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation. Entrepreneurs from various sectors can come together, share ideas, and collaborate on projects. The environment encourages learning, creativity, and problem-solving.
With access to training, mentorship, and networking, entrepreneurs are better equipped to succeed. This helps them develop new products, enter new markets, and create jobs that benefit the local economy.
By supporting SMEs and fostering entrepreneurship, the Sohar Riyada Centre contributes to sustainable economic growth. The services offered help businesses become self-reliant, innovative, and competitive.
This initiative is expected to have a lasting impact on Oman’s economy by encouraging entrepreneurship, creating employment opportunities, and promoting innovation. It also helps the country move closer to its goal of economic diversification under Vision 2030.
