The Director-General of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Makkah Region branch, Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Ismail, received the Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Jeddah, Sirojiddin Shamshutdinov, along with his delegation on Tuesday.
The meeting was organized to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the ministry and the Uzbek consulate. Both sides expressed their interest in developing joint efforts that would serve the interests of Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.
Focus On Seasonal Worker Recruitment
A key topic during the meeting was the recruitment of Uzbek workers to Saudi Arabia through seasonal visas. Seasonal workers play an important role in supporting various sectors, including agriculture, hospitality, and services, particularly during peak seasons.
The officials discussed the process of facilitating recruitment, ensuring it is efficient, transparent, and beneficial for both countries. By streamlining recruitment procedures, they aim to provide job opportunities for Uzbek workers while addressing the labor needs in Saudi Arabia.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
The meeting also focused on ways to strengthen overall bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan. Both sides emphasized the importance of collaboration in labor, social, and economic areas to ensure mutual benefits.
Bilateral cooperation can improve economic ties, encourage cultural exchanges, and build stronger diplomatic relationships. It also creates opportunities for knowledge sharing, skill development, and joint initiatives between government institutions.
Improving Recruitment Facilities
Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Ismail highlighted the ministry’s commitment to providing adequate facilities and support for recruiting foreign workers. The Makkah branch of the ministry is actively working to make recruitment processes easier and faster while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
By improving recruitment facilities, Saudi Arabia can attract skilled and reliable workers while maintaining high standards for workplace safety and labor rights. This approach also benefits Uzbek workers by providing them with clear guidance and support during their employment.
Ensuring Legal And Regulatory Compliance
Both sides emphasized the importance of following all legal and regulatory requirements related to seasonal work visas. Ensuring compliance protects workers’ rights, prevents disputes, and maintains a safe and secure work environment.
The ministry and the Uzbek consulate agreed to continue coordination to monitor recruitment practices, provide guidance to workers, and resolve any issues that may arise. This ensures a smooth and fair recruitment process for everyone involved.
Benefits For Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia benefits from recruiting seasonal workers from Uzbekistan by filling labor gaps in critical sectors. Seasonal workers provide essential support in agriculture, retail, hospitality, and other industries during busy periods.
Having a structured and cooperative system for recruitment allows the kingdom to maintain productivity, meet labor demands, and ensure high-quality services across industries. Uzbek workers, in turn, gain meaningful employment opportunities and experience working abroad.
Benefits For Uzbekistan
For Uzbekistan, cooperation with Saudi Arabia provides employment opportunities for citizens and helps strengthen international labor ties. Workers gain skills, experience, and financial stability, which can contribute to their personal growth and the development of their home country.
Uzbekistan also benefits from enhanced diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia, fostering collaboration in labor policies, social development, and bilateral projects that serve both nations.
Collaborative Efforts And Coordination
The meeting highlighted the need for ongoing coordination between the Saudi labor ministry and the Uzbek consulate. Regular discussions, information exchange, and joint planning ensure that recruitment processes are smooth and effective.
Both sides agreed to continue collaborative efforts to address any challenges, share updates on recruitment procedures, and implement improvements in the seasonal visa system. This proactive approach strengthens trust and cooperation between the two countries.
Ensuring Worker Rights And Welfare
A key priority discussed during the meeting was ensuring the rights and welfare of Uzbek workers in Saudi Arabia. The ministry committed to providing support, legal protection, and guidance to workers while they are employed in the kingdom.
Protecting worker rights not only benefits individuals but also maintains a positive reputation for Saudi Arabia as a fair and responsible employer. Ensuring welfare helps workers perform efficiently and contribute effectively to their workplaces.
Future Cooperation Plans
Both parties agreed to explore additional areas of cooperation beyond seasonal worker recruitment. This may include training programs, skill development initiatives, and collaborative projects that enhance labor productivity and social development.
By planning for future collaboration, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan aim to build long-term partnerships that benefit governments, workers, and the broader economies of both countries.
The meeting between Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Ismail, Director-General of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Makkah, and Sirojiddin Shamshutdinov, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Jeddah, focused on strengthening cooperation in seasonal worker recruitment and bilateral relations.
