Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that Moscow has tested a nuclear-capable Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile with “no counterparts in the world,” calling it a major boost to Russia’s strategic deterrence.
According to reports, Russia says the Sarmat missile is designed to carry nuclear warheads over long distances and bypass missile defence systems. Putin said the system will be deployed by the end of 2026, while Western analysts continue to watch the development closely amid concerns over a renewed nuclear arms race.
