A major fire disaster has struck Malaysia’s Sabah region, where a fierce blaze swept through a water village in Sandakan in the early hours of April 19. The fire destroyed nearly 1,000 homes and affected over 9,000 residents, with strong winds and densely packed wooden structures accelerating its spread.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, though several individuals sustained minor injuries. Authorities have set up emergency shelters and are providing food and medical aid as efforts continue to assist families displaced by one of the country’s largest residential fires this year.
