A massive fire tore through a furniture and bedding outlet in Beitun District, Taichung, Taiwan, during the morning hours, with flames spreading rapidly through the commercial area.
The blaze quickly extended to 8–9 nearby shops and warehouses, including hair salons, as highly flammable materials inside the buildings fueled the fire. Thick, towering black smoke rose over the district, creating a dramatic and alarming scene.
Firefighters responded in large numbers, deploying dozens of fire trucks and crews to battle the flames. After hours of intense firefighting, the blaze was successfully brought under control by early afternoon.
Despite the scale of destruction and the fire’s dangerous proximity to nearby gas pumps, authorities confirmed there were no injuries or casualties. Dramatic footage from the scene captured what looked like a nightmare unfolding in the busy commercial district, while the swift containment highlighted the strength of Taiwan’s urban fire response.
