The UAE says its air defence systems successfully intercepted 2 missiles and 3 drones launched from Iran amid rapidly escalating tensions across the Gulf region.
According to UAE authorities, defence systems were activated after aerial threats were detected approaching the country, with interceptor activity and loud explosions reported in multiple areas. Officials confirmed that all incoming threats were neutralized before reaching their intended targets, preventing major damage.
The incident comes at a time of growing instability around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes. Regional tensions have intensified following recent confrontations involving Iran, the United States, and increased military activity across the Gulf.
Security measures have now been heightened across the Emirates, while analysts warn that continued escalation could impact global energy markets, oil prices, and international shipping operations.
