Ukraine uses ground robot to rescue 77-year-old woman from frontline

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

A remarkable rescue from the war zone in Ukraine has captured global attention after troops used a ground robot to save a 77-year-old woman trapped near the frontline town of Lyman. According to reports, drone operators from Ukraine’s military spotted the elderly woman walking through a heavily shelled “grey zone” with almost no chance of survival.

A high-risk rescue mission was launched, deploying an unmanned ground vehicle guided by drones under constant threat of shelling. To avoid frightening her, soldiers covered the robot with a blanket and placed a message reading “Grandma, get on!”, encouraging her to climb aboard.

The operation lasted nearly four hours, after which she was safely evacuated from the combat zone. The woman had reportedly lost her home due to ongoing fighting, highlighting the severe humanitarian impact of the conflict.
