New Financial Support for Healthcare Workers in Vietnam

New Financial Support for Healthcare Workers in Vietnam

Post by : Shakul

The Vietnamese government has unveiled a strategic policy designed to enhance support for healthcare professionals nationwide. Effective from July 15, 2026, Government Decree No. 192/2026/ND-CP establishes a new framework for special allowances and bonus payments aimed at healthcare workers, intending to uplift their working environment, acknowledge their professional commitments, and further advance public healthcare.

This decree encompasses multiple financial support categories, including on-call duty payments, surgical and procedural fees, epidemic prevention compensations, along with monthly remuneration for village health workers and midwives. These initiatives target a wide array of healthcare personnel stationed in public hospitals, community health centers, military medical units, social welfare facilities, forensic agencies, and medical divisions within public security.

Notably, a significant enhancement has been made concerning allowances for healthcare staff on round-the-clock duty. Depending on the medical institution's classification, workers may earn between 70,000 and 325,000 Vietnamese dong per shift. Those employed in specialized or high-pressure units will receive increased compensation for services rendered during weekends, public holidays, and the Lunar New Year.

Moreover, the decree stipulates better remuneration for medical professionals engaged in surgeries and intricate medical practices. Key figures such as lead surgeons and anesthetists stand to gain allowances ranging from 100,000 to 560,000 Vietnamese dong per procedure, commensurate with the operation's complexity. Additional financial acknowledgment will be provided to supporting healthcare staff and surgical assistants based on their duties during medical procedures.

A distinct framework of allowances has been crafted for healthcare workers participating in epidemic management and disease control endeavors. Those engaged directly in outbreak response, testing, patient care, vaccination, and emergency operations will qualify for daily support payments, with the maximum allowance for frontline personnel tackling Group A infectious disease outbreaks reaching 420,000 Vietnamese dong per day.

Attention has also been directed toward grassroots healthcare, providing monthly compensation to village health practitioners and midwives throughout their service duration. This support will vary between 0.5 to 0.7 times the national minimum wage, contingent upon regional population density and geographical conditions. Authorities believe this initiative will bolster healthcare access in rural and disadvantaged regions.

Officials affirm that this new policy signifies Vietnam's dedication to enhancing healthcare services and recognizing the unwavering commitment of medical personnel on the front lines. By amplifying financial support and broadening the benefits across various sectors of the healthcare system, the government aims to stabilize the workforce, improve service standards, and fortify the country's resilience against future health emergencies.
