Emirates Becomes Main Sponsor Of Real Madrid Basketball Team

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Emirates Airline has signed a new agreement with Real Madrid Basketball, making the airline the Official Main Sponsor of the Spanish professional basketball club. This is a big step for Emirates because it is their first basketball partnership in Europe. The partnership begins immediately, and fans will soon see Emirates’ famous “Fly Better” branding on the team jerseys. The same branding already appears on the jerseys of Real Madrid’s men’s and women’s football teams.

A Historic Moment For Emirates

This new partnership is important because it marks Emirates’ European basketball debut. For many years, the airline has been linked with football and other sports, but now it is stepping into basketball at a higher level in Europe. Emirates says the goal is to connect with fans worldwide and bring them closer to the game. By sponsoring Real Madrid Basketball, the airline is expanding its global presence in sports while also supporting one of the most successful clubs in the world.

Real Madrid’s Unique Achievement

Real Madrid holds a very special place in sports history. It is the only European club to become European champion in both football and basketball in the same season. This rare achievement makes the team even more attractive for a sponsor like Emirates. Supporting a club with such a rich record of success gives the airline a chance to associate its brand with excellence, victory, and heritage.

Emirates’ President Shares Excitement

Sir Tim Clark, the President of Emirates Airline, expressed his happiness about this new agreement. He said the company is proud to become the Official Main Sponsor of Real Madrid Basketball. He also mentioned that this complements their long partnership with Real Madrid football. According to him, the basketball team’s legacy and championship history make the deal very special. He explained that Emirates wants to grow basketball excitement across its network and connect with Real Madrid’s huge fanbase all around the world.

Branding On Jerseys And Kits

As part of the sponsorship deal, Emirates’ Fly Better branding will appear on the player jerseys, training kits, and staff apparel. This means the airline’s name will be visible not only during matches but also in training sessions, media events, and team travel. The branding will become a daily part of the team’s image. For Emirates, this brings strong global visibility, especially since Real Madrid Basketball is watched by millions of fans across Europe and worldwide.

Emirates’ Presence In Stadiums

The deal also includes special branding opportunities inside Movistar Arena Madrid Stadium. Emirates will have its name on scoreboards, digital screens, and other in-arena signage. This ensures that every match will give the airline visibility to fans at the stadium and viewers watching on television. The partnership also includes hospitality opportunities, ticketing rights, and advertising space, making Emirates’ presence even stronger in Spanish and European basketball.

Sponsorship At Major Events

Emirates’ involvement will not be limited to domestic games. The airline will also appear at major basketball events such as the Spanish Liga ACB, EuroLeague, and the Spanish Cup Copa del Rey. These tournaments attract international audiences, which means Emirates branding will reach millions of basketball fans worldwide. This wide exposure helps Emirates expand its role in global sports sponsorship.

Access To Training Facilities

The partnership also gives Emirates access to Ciudad Real Madrid Training Complex, the home base of Real Madrid players. The airline can use these facilities for special hospitality events, behind-the-scenes visits, and player meet-and-greet opportunities. Emirates will also be able to organize youth clinics with basketball legends, which connects the brand with the next generation of fans and athletes.

Emirates’ Long Commitment To Basketball

Although this is Emirates’ first major basketball deal in Europe, the airline has been supporting the sport for decades. Emirates has partnered with grassroots clubs, international leagues, and even the NBA. In 2024, Emirates signed a global deal with the NBA, becoming its Official Global Airline Partner and the title partner of the NBA Cup. The airline also became the first-ever referee jersey patch partner in the NBA, showing how deeply it is involved in the sport.

Basketball In The UAE

Emirates has also played a role in promoting basketball in the UAE. The airline has supported the UAE Basketball Association and the Dubai International Basketball Championship for nearly 30 years. It even sponsored the 2014 FIBA World Championship hosted in the UAE. Over the years, Emirates-sponsored teams have won seven international basketball titles. The airline is also the sponsor of the Beirut Basketball Club, showing its long-term commitment to the sport.

Expanding Sports Partnerships In Spain

In Spain, Emirates has already built strong ties with sports. Besides supporting Real Madrid football for many years, the airline also sponsors tennis events such as the Mutua Madrid Open and the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell. By sponsoring both football and basketball under the Real Madrid brand, Emirates is strengthening its sports footprint in Spain.

Strengthening Emirates’ Brand Globally

The partnership with Real Madrid Basketball is also part of Emirates’ larger strategy to build a global sports identity. By partnering with leading teams and competitions, Emirates promotes its “Fly Better” brand to millions of fans. These fans become familiar with the airline through the excitement of sports. Emirates believes this emotional connection helps the brand remain strong and relevant across different markets worldwide.

Emirates Operations In Spain

Beyond sports, Emirates also operates 28 weekly flights to Spain. This includes 14 flights to Madrid and 14 flights to Barcelona. Seven of these flights connect Dubai to Mexico City via Barcelona. With such a strong flight schedule, Spain is an important destination for Emirates. Sponsoring Real Madrid Basketball helps the airline connect even more with the Spanish public while also reaching global fans.

Partnership Benefits For Fans

This deal also benefits basketball fans. Through Emirates, supporters will get chances to attend exclusive events, enjoy special promotions, and experience basketball more closely. Youth clinics and fan meet-and-greets will inspire the younger generation. Fans traveling on Emirates flights may also see basketball-themed campaigns, making the sport part of their travel experience.

A Strong Alliance

The new partnership between Emirates and Real Madrid Basketball is a milestone in sports sponsorship. It combines the world’s leading airline with one of Europe’s greatest sports clubs. For Emirates, it is an opportunity to strengthen its presence in basketball and connect with fans worldwide. For Real Madrid Basketball, it brings global exposure and long-term support. Together, both sides hope to bring more passion, excitement, and opportunities to basketball fans everywhere.
