Indian equity markets opened the week higher, with investors responding to improving global cues and signals that monetary policy may turn looser in the months ahead.
The Nifty 50 advanced 0.66% to finish at 25,966, while the Sensex gained 0.67% to close at 84,779. Broader segments participated in the upswing — the midcap index rose about 1% and the smallcap index added roughly 0.93%, indicating a broad-based move.
Softer-than-expected US inflation data revived expectations of a possible Federal Reserve easing, and encouraging developments in trade discussions involving the US, China and India further bolstered risk appetite. Domestically, hopes of robust festive demand and signs of renewed private sector capex supported investor sentiment.
Among large-cap names, Reliance Industries, SBI Life, Bharti Airtel and Tata Steel were notable gainers and helped lift the benchmarks. By contrast, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Infosys and Adani Ports experienced some profit-taking after recent advances.
Analysts noted the move highlighted how closely Indian markets track global developments. Renewed buying by foreign institutional investors and strength in capex-linked sectors underpinned the cautious optimism.
On technical charts, the Nifty 50 is seen finding support near 25,700, with immediate resistance around 26,000. A sustained break above that level could pave the way for a move toward 26,500, particularly if banks and other large caps continue to attract buying.
Gold eased as demand for safe-haven assets declined amid the improved risk tone and signs of easing geopolitical tensions and better US-China trade dynamics.
Overall, Monday's session combined global relief and local resilience — suggesting Indian markets are positioned to benefit from festive demand and hopes of a global policy shift heading into November.
