Saudi Arabia has officially launched the second phase of the global “Messengers of Peace” initiative. The event took place at the Ministry of Education’s headquarters in Riyadh on Sunday. This global initiative is supported by Saudi Arabia and aims to promote peace, volunteerism, and youth empowerment worldwide. The launch ceremony was attended by many prominent figures, including government officials, princes, global scout leaders, and experts from around the world. Among the distinguished guests were Yousef Al-Benyan, the Minister of Education and President of the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association, and Prince Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie, the Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg and a board member of the World Scout Foundation.
Minister Welcomes Global Partners
During the opening remarks, Minister Yousef Al-Benyan warmly welcomed Prince Guillaume and all the partners of the World Scouting movement. He also acknowledged the contributions of the “Messengers of Peace” heroes, who have dedicated their time and energy to making the world a better place. Minister Al-Benyan emphasized that Saudi Arabia, with the continued support of its leadership, remains committed to advancing the message of peace and promoting sustainable development. He highlighted that these efforts are not just local but global, aiming to create a safer and more humane world for current and future generations.
Prince Guillaume Highlights Youth Empowerment
Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg spoke about the importance of youth in building a better future. He mentioned Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and its focus on empowering young people. According to Prince Guillaume, scouting plays a vital role in this goal by encouraging volunteerism, teaching essential life skills, and supporting community development. He explained that through scouting, young people gain leadership abilities, teamwork skills, and a sense of social responsibility. Prince Guillaume noted that programs like Messengers of Peace allow youth to actively participate in society while learning how to make positive contributions in their communities.
Saudi Arabia’s Support and Achievements
Prince Guillaume also expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its generous support of the initiative. He shared some impressive achievements from the first phase of the program. The initiative helped over one million scout groups around the world, supported 16 million local projects, and engaged 32 million volunteers. Today, the total number of Scouts participating worldwide has reached 60 million. These figures show the global reach of the initiative and Saudi Arabia’s important role in promoting volunteerism, youth development, and community service. The first phase laid a strong foundation, and the second phase aims to build on this success to inspire even more young people.
Second Phase Goals
The second phase of the Messengers of Peace initiative has ambitious goals. It aims to inspire young people to achieve their dreams while creating a more peaceful and cooperative world. Youth will be encouraged to take part in projects that benefit their local communities, develop their personal skills, and engage in volunteer work. The initiative focuses on helping young people realize their potential, develop leadership qualities, and contribute to building stronger, safer societies. Saudi Arabia’s continued support ensures that this program will reach more youth and communities globally.
Importance of Scouting and Volunteerism
Scouting is a key part of this initiative. It teaches young people responsibility, teamwork, leadership, and empathy. Scouts learn how to work together to solve problems, support their communities, and take action to make positive changes. Volunteerism is at the heart of Messengers of Peace. Through volunteering, young people understand the importance of helping others and creating a better world. The initiative connects Scouts from different countries, allowing them to share experiences, learn from each other, and work together on projects that promote peace and understanding across borders.
Global Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
The launch event also highlighted the importance of international cooperation. Experts, leaders, and decision-makers from around the world came together to share their knowledge, experiences, and ideas. Such collaboration ensures that the initiative can have a greater impact and reach more communities. By working together, countries and organizations can design larger, more effective programs that empower youth and promote volunteerism globally. Saudi Arabia’s partnership with international organizations and the World Scout Foundation demonstrates a strong commitment to creating connections between countries and promoting a global culture of peace.
Encouraging Life Skills Among Youth
One of the main objectives of the Messengers of Peace initiative is to equip young people with essential life skills. Through scouting activities, workshops, and community service, youth learn leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills. These abilities help them succeed in their personal and professional lives. The initiative also teaches values such as respect, responsibility, and empathy. By learning these skills, young people are better prepared to take on challenges, make thoughtful decisions, and positively influence their communities.
Inspiring Community Service Projects
The Messengers of Peace initiative encourages youth to design and implement community service projects. These projects address local needs and promote social good. By participating in these activities, young people learn how to work with others, organize events, and take initiative. The initiative also provides resources and support to help youth successfully complete their projects. Over time, these community projects contribute to building stronger, more resilient societies. The hands-on experience gained through these projects teaches youth about collaboration, planning, and problem-solving in real-world situations.
Building a Network of Young Leaders
The initiative connects Scouts from different countries, creating a global network of young leaders. This network allows youth to exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, and support each other in achieving common goals. Being part of a global network helps young people feel empowered and motivated. They learn from the experiences of others and gain a sense of belonging to a worldwide movement focused on peace and positive change. Saudi Arabia’s support ensures that this network continues to grow and reach more young people across different regions.
Commitment to Sustainable Development
Messengers of Peace also aligns with sustainable development goals. The initiative encourages projects that address environmental issues, education, health, and social welfare. By involving youth in sustainable practices, the initiative teaches them the importance of protecting the environment and supporting their communities. Saudi Arabia’s leadership in promoting sustainable development through youth programs shows its commitment to creating a better future for all. The initiative not only focuses on immediate results but also on long-term impact, helping young people develop skills and values that will benefit society for years to come.
The second phase of the Messengers of Peace initiative is expected to inspire millions of youth worldwide. By participating in scouting and volunteer projects, young people will learn valuable life skills, gain leadership experience, and contribute to building a more peaceful world. Saudi Arabia’s continued involvement ensures that the initiative has the support, resources, and guidance needed to succeed. The initiative demonstrates how global cooperation, youth empowerment, and volunteerism can create meaningful change in society. It sets an example of how countries can work together to achieve a common goal: a safer, more peaceful, and connected world for future generations.
