A shocking attack at the CDC’s Atlanta headquarters left one police officer dead after a gunman, identified as 30-year-old Patrick Joseph White, opened fire with over 180 rounds before taking his own life.

Authorities say White accessed firearms from his father’s safe and left behind documents opposing COVID-19 vaccines. Investigators found over 500 shell casings at the scene.

Thanks to strong security measures and quick police response, no CDC staff were injured.

The attack has renewed urgent discussions on fighting health misinformation and protecting public health workers.
