Chaos in Ankara: Police Clash with Opposition Supporters After CHP Leadership Ruling

Chaos erupted outside the headquarters of Turkey’s main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), as riot police reportedly used pepper spray and force to break through barricades in Ankara. Dramatic clashes were captured on video as supporters resisted the police entry following a controversial court ruling that overturned the party leadership of Özgür Özel.

The confrontation has sparked protests and accusations of political pressure against the opposition, with critics warning the incident raises serious concerns about democracy and political freedom in Turkey. While Turkish authorities insist the judiciary is acting independently and lawfully, opposition figures and civil rights groups say the move undermines political pluralism ahead of key elections.
