Sprinkler Malfunction Interrupts World Cup Match at Gillette Stadium

Sprinkler Malfunction Interrupts World Cup Match at Gillette Stadium

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

A sprinkler malfunction at Gillette Stadium created an unusual moment during halftime of the World Cup match between Iraq and Norway on Tuesday. The unexpected problem happened near one of the goals and briefly drew attention away from the action on the field.

The incident occurred during the halftime break when a sprinkler near the penalty area suddenly started spraying a large stream of water. The sprinkler continued to shoot water for several seconds, soaking part of the playing surface.

The affected goal area was the same end of the field where Norwegian striker Erling Haaland scored two goals in the first half to help Norway take a 2-1 lead into the break.

Stadium staff quickly responded to the situation. To prevent further flooding, all sprinklers on the field were turned off. Groundskeepers rushed onto the pitch with tools and buckets to control the excess water and spread it across other areas of the grass.

The area around the faulty sprinkler appeared discolored due to the extra water, but workers were able to repair the problem before the second half began. By the time the players returned to the field, the affected section of the pitch looked normal again.

The match continued without any further issues, and the sprinkler malfunction did not cause any delays. While the incident was unusual, the quick response from stadium staff ensured that play resumed smoothly and safely.

The sprinkler malfunction at Gillette Stadium became a talking point among fans, adding an unexpected moment to an exciting World Cup match between Iraq and Norway.
