China has called for a “complete ceasefire” and an immediate end to the escalating tensions involving Iran, warning that the Middle East is standing at a “critical moment” between war and peace.
The statement came during high-level talks in Beijing between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, where both sides discussed regional security, energy stability, and growing concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most vital oil shipping routes.
Beijing also criticized recent US and Israeli military actions against Iran, calling further escalation dangerous for regional and global stability. China urged all parties to return to diplomacy and negotiations instead of military confrontation.
As one of Iran’s largest energy partners, China is increasing its diplomatic engagement amid fears that instability in the Gulf could severely impact global oil markets and international trade. Analysts say the meeting also reflects China’s growing influence as a major diplomatic player in Middle East affairs.
