A Royal Danish Air Force transport aircraft carrying advance military personnel landed in Nuuk, Greenland, on January 14, marking the establishment of initial command-and-control for an expanded Arctic deployment.
The Danish Defense Ministry confirmed that advance elements from the Joint Arctic Command arrived to prepare logistics for follow-on forces, which will include Thetis-class patrol vessels, Arctic-trained Sirius Patrol detachments, and potential F-35 rotations.
The deployment will be supported by a multinational tanker fleet, with Germany sending a Bundeswehr reconnaissance team, while Sweden, Norway, and France are participating in scheduled exercises to protect critical infrastructure and assist local authorities.
