Fresh devastation has been reported in Gaza City after Israeli airstrikes hit the al-Rimal neighbourhood, killing at least seven Palestinians, including a child and women, and injuring dozens more.
Israel said the strike targeted Izz al-Din al-Haddad, the head of Hamas’ armed wing and a figure it links to the October 7 attacks.
Reuters first reported his status was unclear, while later reports said Israel announced he had been killed.
The strike hit a residential building and a vehicle in Gaza City, intensifying concerns over civilian casualties and the fragile ceasefire situation.
With truce talks stalled and humanitarian conditions already severe, the latest attack has again put Gaza at the center of global attention.
