A Hindu school teacher, Birendra Kumar Dey, popularly known as Jhunu Sir, has seen his family home completely reduced to ashes after a devastating fire in Bahor village, under Nandirgaon union of Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet, Bangladesh. According to local reports, the incident was confirmed to be an act of arson, raising serious concerns over the safety and security of religious minority households in the area.
The destruction of the home has been described as total, leaving the family with significant loss and shock. This incident is being viewed as yet another targeted attack against a Hindu household, adding to a growing pattern of violence faced by minority communities in the region.
Despite the seriousness of the incident, authorities have so far remained silent, with no reports of arrests or identification of those responsible. The lack of visible action has intensified fear and uncertainty among Hindu communities across the area, who are increasingly worried about their protection amid successive cases of violence.
The arson attack has once again highlighted urgent concerns regarding the safety of religious minorities and the need for immediate protective measures, as the pattern of such incidents continues without clear accountability or justice.
