Iranian state media has released footage claiming to show the wreckage of a US reconnaissance drone allegedly shot down by Iran’s armed forces over the Strait of Hormuz.
The video, circulated by Iranian outlets and linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reportedly shows debris from the aircraft being displayed after the alleged interception near one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.
Iran claims its air defense systems targeted the drone after it entered sensitive airspace near the Strait of Hormuz, while there has been no official confirmation from the United States regarding the incident so far.
The development comes amid rising tensions in the Gulf region, where military activity, maritime security concerns, and threats to global oil shipping routes have sharply increased in recent weeks. Analysts warn that any further escalation around the Strait of Hormuz could have major implications for regional stability and global energy markets.
