Iran has started rebuilding the B-1 Bridge in Karaj, west of Tehran, nearly three months after it was damaged in a US airstrike. The bridge, described by President Donald Trump as Iran’s “George Washington Bridge,” became a major flashpoint after the April 2 strike.
US officials claimed the route was being used to move missile and drone components, while Iranian authorities called it civilian infrastructure.
Iran says the reconstruction will cost more than $23 million and may take around one year to complete.
