San Diego Mosque Shooting Leaves 3 Dead, Police Probe Possible Hate Crime

A deadly shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, the region’s largest mosque, left three men dead, including a security guard whom police credited with helping prevent an even greater tragedy. Authorities said two teenage suspects later died from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds, and the case is being investigated as a possible hate crime.

Law enforcement, SWAT teams and emergency crews rushed to the Clairemont-area mosque after active shooter reports, while children at the mosque’s school were safely evacuated. The attack has raised fresh concerns over security at places of worship across the U.S.
