SpaceX Falcon 9 Stage Crashes Into Moon After Year-Long Drift

A discarded SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage has crashed into the Moon after drifting through space for more than a year. The rocket segment struck the lunar surface at approximately 5,400 mph near the Einstein and Bell craters. Scientists detected evidence of an impact plume, while NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is expected to examine the site and search for the newly formed crater.
