A U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bomber crashed shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California, triggering heavy flames and thick black smoke visible from miles away. According to official updates, the aircraft was carrying eight people during a routine test mission when it went down at around 11:20 a.m. local time.
Reuters reported that all eight crew members were killed in the crash. The B-52, a long-range strategic bomber used for conventional and nuclear-capable missions, was reportedly involved in testing linked to modernization work. Emergency teams responded to the crash site, while base operations were affected due to runway damage. Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the crash, and an investigation is underway.
