Nine Killed as Russian Shelling Hits Kyiv and Kharkiv

Post by : Shakul

Russian shelling targeting multiple Ukrainian cities claimed the lives of nine people on Sunday, according to Ukrainian officials. The attacks struck both Kyiv and Kharkiv, causing casualties among civilians and emergency responders while damaging infrastructure in the affected areas.

Authorities in Kyiv reported that four people were killed after Russian strikes hit parts of the Ukrainian capital. The attacks also left 23 people injured, including a child, as emergency crews rushed to the scene to assist victims and assess the extent of the damage.

Timur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said rescue teams worked throughout the day following the strikes. Several residential and urban areas were reportedly affected, prompting emergency services to launch immediate response operations.

In Kharkiv, the situation turned even more tragic when rescue workers came under repeated attacks while carrying out firefighting operations. Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klymenko confirmed that five members of the State Emergency Service lost their lives while responding to incidents caused by earlier shelling.

At least five additional rescue personnel were injured during the attacks. Officials said the emergency workers were attempting to contain fires and assist civilians when the area was targeted again, highlighting the dangers faced by first responders during ongoing military operations.

The latest attacks add to the growing toll of casualties and destruction resulting from the prolonged conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian authorities continue to document damage to civilian infrastructure while urging residents in affected regions to remain alert to air raid warnings.

International attention remains focused on the conflict as both sides continue military operations across several regions. Ukrainian officials have renewed calls for increased support to protect civilians and critical infrastructure amid continued attacks.
