Dubai RTA Joins Global Bus Benchmarking Group

Dubai RTA Joins Global Bus Benchmarking Group

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially joined the International Bus Benchmarking Group (IBBG), becoming the first public bus operator in the Middle East to be part of this global network. The alliance connects leading bus operators and transport authorities worldwide to share best practices and improve service quality.

Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, said joining IBBG marks a significant regional achievement, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a hub for smart and sustainable mobility solutions. He added that the move sets a new benchmark in operational excellence, transparency, and international collaboration.

Through IBBG membership, RTA will be able to benchmark its performance against top international bus operators and adopt global best practices. This will enhance service quality, safety, efficiency, and sustainability across Dubai’s public bus network.

The benchmarking framework will provide RTA with tools for:

  • Monitoring fleet utilization and maintenance efficiency

  • Improving depot productivity and network reliability

  • Optimizing energy use and reducing emissions

  • Enhancing passenger satisfaction and safety

  • Managing operational costs effectively

By integrating these insights into its operations, RTA aims to strengthen Dubai’s public transport system, expand smart mobility solutions, and support environmental sustainability goals.

Bahrozyan concluded that joining the international group will also boost Dubai’s global presence in public transport, opening doors for international knowledge exchange and collaboration with leading bus systems.
