Sheikh Abdullah Meets Paraguay President At UN Assembly

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, met Santiago Peña, President of the Republic of Paraguay, in New York during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80). The meeting was also attended by Paraguay’s Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano. This friendly encounter highlighted the spirit of respect and partnership between the two nations.

Conveying Messages From UAE Leaders

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah conveyed the warm greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He also shared the regards of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, along with His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court. All of them expressed their best wishes for progress, prosperity, and well-being for Paraguay and its people.

President Peña Responds With Warm Wishes

In response, President Santiago Peña expressed his sincere gratitude for the kind words from the UAE leadership. He reciprocated with his own greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed. He also wished the UAE continued growth, stability, and prosperity, stressing the importance of building closer ties between the two nations.

Discussion On Global Issues At UN Assembly

Both sides took the opportunity to review key issues currently under discussion at the United Nations General Assembly. The two leaders emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges such as peace, security, sustainable development, and economic stability. The talks reflected their shared belief that nations must work together to ensure progress for all people.

Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

A significant part of the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations. Sheikh Abdullah and President Peña explored opportunities to boost cooperation in areas such as development, economy, and trade. Sheikh Abdullah praised the positive growth of UAE-Paraguay relations over recent years. He reaffirmed the UAE’s readiness to make the most of new opportunities to expand cooperation with Paraguay. He stressed that the UAE aims to build sustainable partnerships that promote prosperity, stability, and development not only for the two countries but also for their wider regions.

Paraguay’s Role In The Partnership

For his part, President Peña highlighted Paraguay’s openness to international cooperation and its interest in strengthening partnerships with countries like the UAE. He noted that Paraguay values such relationships because they create new pathways for economic growth, trade, and cultural exchange. By working closely with the UAE, Paraguay hopes to build stronger bridges with the Arab region and beyond.

Support For Development Priorities

Both countries agreed on the importance of aligning cooperation projects with national development goals. The UAE, with its strong focus on innovation, sustainable growth, and international partnerships, can support Paraguay in areas such as infrastructure, renewable energy, and investment. In return, Paraguay can offer opportunities in agriculture, trade, and logistics, areas where it has natural strengths.

High-Level Participation In The Meeting

The meeting was also attended by Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation. Her presence highlighted the UAE’s commitment to international collaboration and further underlined the importance the country places on strengthening ties with Paraguay.

The talks between Sheikh Abdullah and President Peña reflect the mutual desire of the UAE and Paraguay to look toward the future with stronger ties. The leaders expressed confidence that through joint efforts, they can build long-term cooperation that promotes prosperity for both nations. The meeting also showcased how international gatherings like the UN General Assembly provide important platforms for nations to connect and deepen bilateral relations.
