UAE Strengthens Asian Parliamentary Cooperation in Moscow

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Mohammed Eisa Al Kashef, Member of the Parliamentary Division of the Federal National Council (FNC), represented the United Arab Emirates at the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) held in Moscow. The meeting brought together delegates from across Asia to discuss key social, cultural, and developmental issues affecting the continent.

During his speech, Al Kashef reaffirmed the UAE’s strong commitment to building closer ties with Asian parliaments through open dialogue, cooperation, and shared values. He explained that the UAE views parliamentary diplomacy as an essential bridge to deepen trust, enhance peace, and expand development partnerships across Asia.

Al Kashef emphasized that continuous dialogue among Asian nations is the foundation of lasting peace and stability. He said that by working together through parliamentary forums, Asian countries can collectively address shared challenges such as poverty, education, cultural preservation, and social inclusion. The UAE’s approach, he added, has always been rooted in mutual respect and understanding among peoples and governments.

Highlighting the UAE’s diplomatic philosophy, Al Kashef said that cooperation and partnership are central to promoting peace across the continent. He pointed out that parliamentary engagement offers a platform to unify opinions, reduce tensions, and find sustainable solutions to regional disputes. The UAE, he stressed, continues to play a proactive role in supporting peace-building efforts, tolerance, and coexistence within Asia and beyond.

In his remarks, Al Kashef underlined the significance of parliamentary diplomacy as an effective tool for uniting diverse views and shaping coordinated responses to common issues. He explained that legislative bodies can foster greater cultural understanding and create policies that promote inclusivity, human development, and respect for diversity. Such collaboration, he said, ensures that Asia’s growing influence is supported by shared responsibility and a spirit of unity.

The UAE’s Parliamentary Division also presented proposals related to two key draft resolutions discussed by the APA Committee. The first proposal focused on the “Promotion of Quality Child and Youth Development for a Sustainable Society in Asia.” Al Kashef stated that investing in youth development is vital for ensuring the long-term prosperity of Asian societies. He emphasized that education, innovation, and equal opportunities for young people are essential drivers of sustainable growth and social harmony.

The second proposal presented by the UAE addressed the theme “Asian Parliamentarians in Support of a More Just Multipolar World Order Reflecting Cultural and Civilisational Diversity.” Al Kashef explained that Asia’s strength lies in its diversity, and this diversity must be respected and represented in the international system. He urged greater cooperation among Asian parliaments to build a fairer and more balanced global order that values equality, respect, and peaceful coexistence among nations.

The UAE’s participation in the Moscow meeting reaffirmed its ongoing role as a promoter of cultural understanding and social development across Asia. Al Kashef noted that the UAE’s policies are guided by values of tolerance, compassion, and inclusivity, all of which contribute to strengthening regional solidarity. He also highlighted the UAE’s continued support for joint initiatives that promote education, gender equality, and community empowerment.

Throughout the meeting, the UAE delegation stressed the importance of joint projects and exchange programs that enhance sustainable development goals in the region. Al Kashef emphasized that Asia’s success depends on the ability of its nations to share knowledge, collaborate on innovation, and build stronger institutions. He encouraged member states to align their efforts with global sustainability objectives to ensure equitable progress for all.

Al Kashef reiterated that the UAE remains dedicated to strengthening parliamentary relations across Asia. By promoting inclusive dialogue and supporting initiatives that empower youth, preserve culture, and uphold justice, the UAE continues to play an active role in building a peaceful and prosperous Asian region. The meeting in Moscow served as another opportunity for the UAE to showcase its leadership in fostering cooperation, harmony, and shared progress among Asian nations.
