Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, represented the United Arab Emirates at a high-level meeting hosted by the French Republic in Paris on 9th October 2025. The meeting focused on the implementation of United States President Donald Trump’s peace plan and gathered foreign ministers from Egypt, Germany, Italy, Jordan, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. Representatives from the European Union, Canada, Indonesia, and Pakistan also participated.
The gathering provided a platform for key regional and international partners to discuss strategies aimed at supporting long-term peace and stability in Gaza and the wider region.
UAE Praises Leadership and Ceasefire Breakthrough
During her remarks, Al Hashimy praised the decisive leadership of President Trump and acknowledged the mediation efforts of Egypt, Türkiye, and Qatar. She welcomed the recent ceasefire as a breakthrough and emphasised the importance of building on this moment to achieve a durable peace in the region.
She highlighted the need for sustained collaboration among regional and international partners to ensure the successful implementation of the peace plan and to stabilise Gaza effectively.
UAE Humanitarian Role in Gaza
Al Hashimy outlined the UAE’s significant humanitarian contributions in Gaza, totaling US$1.8 billion since the start of the conflict. This aid includes life-saving support delivered via 8,000 trucks, hospital treatments for nearly 75,000 patients, and operation of six desalination plants providing two million gallons of clean water daily.
The UAE’s initiatives demonstrate its commitment to alleviating human suffering and ensuring basic needs are met in the most challenging circumstances.
Plans to Expand Humanitarian Support
The UAE is prepared to scale up humanitarian efforts. Plans include extending water pipelines, adding tankers and distribution points, increasing the number of bakeries to 50, and expanding community kitchens to over 100, producing 25,000 metric tonnes of food monthly.
Medical support will also grow, with additional supplies, vaccination campaigns, and maternal care clinics. Ahead of winter, the UAE intends to deploy more tents, caravans, and shelters to protect vulnerable populations.
Earlier in the day, Minister Al Hashimy joined Arab foreign ministers for a meeting with President Macron. She also held bilateral discussions on the sidelines with foreign ministers from Egypt, France, Italy, Jordan, Qatar, and the United Kingdom.
These engagements underscore the UAE’s commitment to diplomatic efforts, humanitarian leadership, and regional stability, positioning it as a key partner in the successful implementation of the peace plan and broader reconstruction initiatives in Gaza.
