RAF Typhoon Jets Down Drones Heading to Jordan, Bahrain

RAF Typhoon Jets Down Drones Heading to Jordan, Bahrain

Post by : Bianca Haleem

In a swift defensive move amid rising tensions in the Middle East, the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force (RAF) successfully intercepted two unmanned aerial threats overnight to protect key allies in the region.

According to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), RAF Typhoon fighter jets destroyed one unmanned aerial system (UAS) that was heading toward Jordan. Another drone targeting Bahrain was also intercepted and neutralised during the operation.

The MoD confirmed that the action was part of defensive air operations aimed at supporting regional partners and maintaining security in the Gulf region.

In an official statement shared on social media, the defence ministry said the UK has started defensive air sorties to support the United Arab Emirates and other allied nations as tensions continue to rise across the Middle East.

To strengthen regional coordination, the UK has also deployed additional air operations specialists to the Gulf. These experts will help monitor aerial activity across the region and assist partner countries with airspace management.

The deployment and interception come as several countries in the Middle East remain on high alert due to increasing missile and drone threats linked to ongoing regional conflicts.

British officials said the operations are focused on protecting allies and ensuring regional stability while closely monitoring developments in the Middle East.
