A catastrophic train accident near Jakarta leaves at least 14 individuals dead and many others injured after an express train collided with a halted commuter train late Monday night. This incident took place close to Bekasi Timur station, where emergency responders engaged in a nearly 12-hour rescue effort to assist trapped passengers and recover victims from the wreckage.
Officials report that the ordeal commenced when a taxi hit the commuter train at a level crossing, causing it to halt on the tracks. Shortly thereafter, a long-distance express train, unable to brake in time, crashed into the rear of the stationary train.
