Pakistan Air Force Super Mushshak Crashes Near Mardan, Two Pilots Killed

Two Pakistani military officers lost their lives after a Pakistan Air Force Super Mushshak trainer aircraft crashed near Mardan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a routine training mission. The accident occurred in the Sawaldher-Katlang area, prompting an immediate response from rescue teams and local authorities.

The victims were identified as Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Qasim Abdullah of the Pakistan Air Force and Lieutenant Taha Abbasi of the Pakistan Navy. Flight Lieutenant Abdullah was serving as an instructor pilot, while Lieutenant Abbasi was undergoing flight training at the time of the accident. Both officers were reported to have died at the crash site.

Officials said the trainer aircraft went down during a scheduled training sortie. Emergency responders quickly reached the area and secured the site while authorities began gathering information about the circumstances surrounding the crash. No reports of civilian casualties or property damage were immediately released.

Pakistan’s military media wing confirmed that Air Headquarters has established a board of inquiry to determine the cause of the accident. Senior leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, expressed grief over the loss of the two officers and extended their condolences to the bereaved families. The investigation is expected to examine technical, operational and environmental factors linked to the crash.
