Türkiye Fans Turn Yedikule Fortress Into World Cup Fan Zone For Australia Clash

Post by : Shakul

Football excitement swept across Istanbul as thousands of supporters gathered at the historic Yedikule Fortress to watch Türkiye begin its FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign against Australia. The centuries-old landmark was transformed into a lively fan zone, with giant screens, Turkish flags, and passionate chants creating a stadium-like atmosphere in the heart of the city.

The public screening was organized by Fatih Municipality, allowing fans to come together and support the national team despite the match taking place thousands of kilometers away at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada. Families, young supporters, and football enthusiasts filled the venue, turning the historic fortress into one of the most vibrant World Cup gathering spots in the country.

Throughout the evening, supporters waved flags, sang national songs, and cheered every attack as Türkiye returned to the World Cup stage after a 24-year absence. The atmosphere reflected the deep connection between Turkish fans and their national team, with many describing the event as a memorable celebration of football and national pride.

Although Türkiye suffered a 2-0 defeat against Australia in its Group D opener, the result did little to dampen the spirit of the crowd. Fans continued to show their loyalty and optimism, expressing confidence that the team can bounce back in the remaining group-stage matches and keep its World Cup hopes alive.
