A delegation from the UAE Accountability Authority (UAEAA), led by Humaid Obaid Khalifa Obaid Abushibs, President of the UAEAA, participated in the ministerial meeting of the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group held in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The meeting took place under South Africa’s presidency of the G20 for the year 2025. This participation highlights the UAE’s strong commitment to promoting transparency, integrity, and accountability in governance, both domestically and internationally.

During the meeting, the UAE delegation emphasized that the country’s approach to governance is guided by the principles of integrity, accountability, and ethical leadership. The UAEAA stressed that combating corruption is not only a legal obligation but also a key element in ensuring sustainable national development. By embedding accountability in its institutions, the UAE aims to maintain the trust of its citizens and strengthen the efficiency of its public administration systems.

The UAE delegation highlighted that the nation treats accountability and anti-corruption efforts as a strategic investment in long-term development. This institutional approach reflects the directives of the UAE leadership, which considers transparency one of the main pillars of national progress. Through consistent efforts to uphold clean governance and fair public management, the UAE continues to advance its reputation as a country of high ethical standards and institutional integrity.

Addressing the G20 meeting, the UAEAA delegation underlined that corruption is a global challenge that requires collective solutions. It called for greater international cooperation to exchange expertise, build capacity, and strengthen audit institutions across countries. The UAEAA reaffirmed its readiness to share its successful practices with other nations, especially in areas related to financial auditing, risk management, and institutional control mechanisms.

The UAE delegation also drew attention to the importance of cooperation between public and private sectors in preventing corruption. It noted that transparent collaboration builds trust in the business environment and helps create a fair and sustainable investment climate. Such partnerships not only reduce financial misconduct but also promote economic growth that benefits all members of society.

Within the framework of the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group, the UAEAA reiterated its support for enhancing collaboration among supreme audit and accountability institutions. It encouraged member states to develop joint training programs, adopt digital monitoring systems, and improve transparency mechanisms. The UAE believes that stronger institutional links can lead to better implementation of anti-corruption policies and more effective oversight of public funds.

President Humaid Obaid Khalifa Obaid Abushibs expressed that the UAE’s ongoing participation in global platforms like the G20 reflects its leadership in promoting ethical governance. He affirmed that integrity and good governance form the foundation of the UAE’s economic and social achievements. He also emphasized that accountability contributes directly to public trust and strengthens the UAE’s international partnerships.

The UAE delegation reminded attendees that fighting corruption contributes to sustainable development goals by ensuring fair distribution of resources and efficient management of public services. By investing in accountability, the UAE ensures that its national institutions function transparently and responsibly, benefiting citizens and investors alike.

The UAE Accountability Authority continues to play a vital role in the global fight against corruption through its membership in international audit and transparency organizations. Its participation in the G20 meeting represents the UAE’s dedication to global cooperation and its leadership in developing strong governance systems.

The G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group meeting in South Africa concluded with a shared vision for a world guided by transparency and accountability. The UAE’s contribution reinforced its belief that integrity in governance forms the basis for peace, prosperity, and trust among nations.
