UAE and Mauritania Boost Judicial and Digital Cooperation

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania have reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in the fields of law and justice. Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice of the UAE, met with Mohamad Ould Soueydatt, Minister of Justice of Mauritania, and his accompanying delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The discussion reflected the two countries’ mutual goal of building strong judicial partnerships based on respect, transparency, and digital advancement.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed ongoing legal cooperation frameworks and discussed potential areas for further development. These included sharing best practices in legislation, judicial training, and the digital transformation of justice systems. The session was marked by a friendly exchange of ideas focused on enhancing efficiency and innovation in court operations and legal services.

Minister Abdullah Al Nuaimi briefed the visiting delegation on the UAE’s recent achievements in building a modern and digital judicial system. He highlighted the advanced infrastructure the Ministry has established to ensure fair, fast, and transparent access to justice. Among these developments are electronic case management systems, digital legal archives, and automated platforms that simplify court procedures.

He explained that the UAE’s vision for justice aligns with its national strategy for digital transformation, aiming to make the judicial system more accessible and effective. The UAE’s Ministry of Justice has been at the forefront of using smart technologies to support citizens, residents, and businesses in resolving disputes efficiently.

As part of the meeting, the Mauritanian delegation received a detailed presentation on the UAE’s smart justice initiatives. The presentation showcased several innovations, including remote litigation systems, online registration of legal cases, and artificial intelligence tools for legal research.

Delegates were also introduced to the Ministry’s “Smart Justice Platform,” which enables lawyers and litigants to submit documents, follow up on cases, and attend hearings virtually. This system, introduced to improve access and save time, has significantly transformed how justice is delivered in the country.

The UAE side emphasized that these technological advances were designed not only to increase efficiency but also to uphold the principles of fairness and transparency that form the foundation of its judicial process.

Minister Mohamad Ould Soueydatt expressed admiration for the UAE’s rapid progress in adopting digital technologies within its legal framework. He praised the advanced level of integration between technology and legislation in the UAE and noted that such progress serves as a model for developing countries aiming to modernize their judicial sectors.

He further stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration between the two ministries to share knowledge and expertise in digital transformation, judicial training, and legislative reform. The Mauritanian Minister said that through such cooperation, both nations could enhance their institutional capabilities and deliver better public services.

Both ministers reaffirmed their intention to continue strengthening legal and judicial cooperation between their countries. They agreed to exchange delegations, organize training programs, and explore partnerships in legislative development and judicial education. The UAE’s experience in digital governance and smart services will serve as a valuable reference point for Mauritania as it works to improve its justice system.

The meeting concluded with an understanding that continuous dialogue and collaboration between both nations would contribute to building stronger, technology-driven judicial systems that support sustainable development and promote the rule of law.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials from both ministries, highlighting the importance placed on this bilateral partnership. Both parties expressed optimism about future initiatives that would enhance cooperation not only in the legal field but also in related areas such as public administration and governance.

The session ended on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their shared vision of justice, innovation, and international cooperation. Through such partnerships, the UAE and Mauritania continue to strengthen their diplomatic and institutional ties, setting a strong example of collaboration in the Arab world.
