Tragic Hotel Blaze Claims 21 Lives in New Delhi

Post by : Bianca Haleem

A catastrophic fire at a hotel in New Delhi has resulted in the loss of at least 21 lives and injured over 40 others, as reported by the Delhi Police.

The inferno ignited in the morning at Flourish Stay, a bed-and-breakfast in a crowded area of south Delhi. Emergency responders swiftly arrived, initiating rescue efforts as the flames spread rapidly through the structure.

Authorities confirmed that 21 individuals tragically perished in the incident. Rescue and search efforts were conducted continuously throughout the day, ensuring no one was left trapped within the building.

More than 40 victims were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment. Initial local media reports indicated that several deceased were visitors from African nations, who had come to New Delhi for medical care.

The fire was ultimately contained with the deployment of eight fire engines. Local authorities stated that all relevant agencies remained on site to aid both the victims and their families.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his sorrow over the loss and offered his sympathies to the affected families, describing the event as tragic.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with authorities actively seeking to uncover the circumstances that led to the outbreak.

Building fires pose a significant issue in India, frequently caused by safety oversights and electric failures. Electrical shorts, particularly from poorly maintained wiring systems, remain a predominant cause of such disasters in the country.

Officials are expected to provide additional information as the inquiry unfolds.
