Al Ain, UAE: Mawaheb Talent Hub, a division of the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE), in collaboration with ADGM Academy (ADGMA), has successfully finalized the first edition of the Future Entrepreneurs Programme in 3D Printing. This initiative was made possible through partnerships with leading institutions dedicated to innovation and training, alongside the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED) and Sindan, aimed at empowering UAE job seekers with the necessary entrepreneurial skills and hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing.
The three-week programme culminated in a Demo Day hosted in the Al Ain Region, where the first cohort of 50 Emirati job seekers showcased their product prototypes and innovative designs developed during their training. The event featured a product exhibition, keynote addresses, and a ceremony to award certificates to the participants.
The event drew senior officials, industry specialists, partner representatives, and distinguished guests to commemorate the hard work and achievements of the participants, emphasizing the role of local innovation in contributing to the UAE's economic diversification.
During Demo Day, graduates revealed fully developed prototypes and validated business concepts ready for market. Their projects reflected the programme’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurial spirit while generating new avenues for employment and business growth.
This initiative aligns with the UAE’s national development objectives by integrating entrepreneurship education with practical 3D printing and digital fabrication training. Participants were mentored on converting creative ideas into functioning prototypes and viable business plans.
Focusing on the needs of young job seekers in Al Ain, this initiative also enhances the city's standing as a hub for innovation, industrial growth, and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Throughout the programme, participants underwent comprehensive training that encompassed entrepreneurial thinking, crafting business strategies, preparing pitches, and mastering the basics of advanced manufacturing. They acquired hands-on experience in selecting materials, digital modeling, and using 3D printing technologies to turn innovative ideas into commercial products.
In support of cultivating a sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystem, the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development provided specialized workshops for participants, which took place at MZN Hub Al Ain, KFED's entrepreneurship centre, offering startups and early-stage Emirati founders access to workspaces, training, mentoring, and partnership opportunities.
Dr Abdulla Al Shimmari, Executive Director of the National Workforce Enablement Sector and Mawaheb Talent Hub, stated that Abu Dhabi is committed to harnessing the potential of its residents. He remarked that participants emerging from this programme, equipped with a viable prototype and business idea, are not only more employable but also empowered to innovate. He expressed that the collaboration with ADGM Academy and Sindan provides world-class resources across the emirate, and that graduates will play a pivotal role in shaping the future industrial economy of Abu Dhabi, with Mawaheb continuing to support their endeavors.
Ali Al Mehairi, Senior Executive Director of Business Enablement at ADGM Academy, emphasized that the Future Entrepreneurs Programme in 3D Printing reflects ADGM Academy's commitment to equipping UAE talent with the skills necessary for future innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth. He added that the blend of advanced manufacturing training and entrepreneurial instruction is crucial for developing the next generation of innovators capable of driving the UAE's knowledge-based economy. He also pointed out the increasing importance of the Al Ain Region as a center for innovation and economic diversification.
The programme reinforces the UAE’s broader strategic goals by bolstering local manufacturing, promoting SME advancement, and nurturing skilled professionals in advanced technologies and entrepreneurship. Upon completion, graduates are equipped with hands-on experience, practical prototypes, validated business ideas, and the confidence to either seek employment or launch ventures in key industries.
As a hub dedicated to nurturing talent and innovation, ADGM Academy remains committed to supporting initiatives that contribute to the UAE’s vision of establishing a varied, knowledge-driven economy while enhancing ADGM's role as a financial center focused on future growth.
