Abu Dhabi's Department of Health (DoH) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) have unveiled the next stage of their strategic alliance aimed at advancing smart health systems and promoting a culture of healthy longevity. This announcement was made during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, taking place at the UAE Pavilion.
With this expanded partnership, Abu Dhabi seeks to solidify its status as a frontrunner in preventive, personalized, and data-driven healthcare.
His Excellency Mansoor Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, emphasized that traditional healthcare is often reactive and disjointed. He indicated that this collaboration will pioneer a global transition toward smart health infrastructure focused on proactive care, disease prevention, and enhanced longevity.
This update follows the successful conclusion of the previous phase that led to a joint white paper entitled “A New Era for Digital Health: Abu Dhabi’s Leap to Health Intelligence.” The paper outlines how Abu Dhabi has developed an advanced health system that integrates clinical, genomic, lifestyle, and environmental data to evaluate health risks, prevent illness, and inform public health policies on a large scale.
Dr. Shyam Bishen, Head of the Centre for Health and Healthcare at the World Economic Forum, commended Abu Dhabi's leadership, asserting that the emirate exemplifies how digital health, artificial intelligence, and data can catalyze real-world improvements at the system level. He remarked that these insights can assist nations in constructing more connected, preventive, and resilient healthcare frameworks around the globe.
In this new phase, Abu Dhabi will maintain its role as a Global Pathfinder within the WEF’s Digital Healthcare Transformation (DHT) Initiative. This initiative unites over 200 global organizations, encompassing healthcare leaders, technology companies, policymakers, and investors, to accelerate the transformation of healthcare on a global scale.
Abu Dhabi’s insights will enrich global dialogues on healthy living, longevity, and health intelligence, as well as the influence of digital technologies and AI on public health policy. The partnership will also connect with other WEF health initiatives, including the Healthy Longevity Initiative and the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience.
