The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), an initiative supported by the Qatar Foundation, has launched the application process for the WISE Prize for Education for the 2026-2027 period. This prestigious programme is intended to bolster innovative educational solutions that tackle pressing global issues, backed by funding, mentorship, and technical aid.
As per WISE, the upcoming cycle will conduct a thorough selection to identify a group of finalists. Each will be awarded development funds ranging from USD 100,000 to USD 125,000. Chosen participants will also engage in a year-long programme offering mentorship and technical support aimed at accelerating their initiatives and enhancing their long-lasting effects.
The competition will culminate at the WISE 13 Summit, set for Doha in 2027, where an international jury will present a total of USD 1 million in awards to the most impactful and scalable educational approaches that can demonstrate measurable advancements in learning outcomes.
This edition will spotlight critical priorities in education, such as enhancing educational access for underrepresented and marginalized communities, advocating for responsible AI usage in learning, bolstering foundational skills like literacy and numeracy, and promoting the mental and physical wellness of students.
Dr. Asyia Kazmi, Chief Executive Officer of WISE, expressed that the initiative is tailored to support organizations that transform innovative concepts into practical and scalable solutions capable of introducing significant changes in global education systems.
Aurelio Amaral, Director of Innovation at WISE, mentioned that the focus of this initiative is on established institutions that possess promising pilot programs. He emphasized that the technical support provided will empower participants to develop sustainable growth strategies adaptable to varied regions and cultural contexts.
WISE clarified that all submitted proposals will undergo several evaluation phases, which include eligibility assessments, expert reviews, and an 'innovation race' to evaluate how effectively solutions can meet real-world educational challenges prior to advancing to the final development stage in 2027.
Since its inception in 2009, the WISE Prize for Education has honored over 100 pioneering projects and notable individuals globally. Over the years, the initiative has grown into a significant global platform that endorses evidence-based educational solutions with the potential for a far-reaching impact.
